Zoo+friends+stash enhancement=Toronto

So first we drove...and drove...and drove... This was the view out the rearview mirror for the trip. Madeline spent most of the trip reading and lying in the back seat. I promise I do not normally do the following while driving on a major highway: take pictures out the rearview mirror/fix knitting errors/eat hamburgers. Except on this trip...

We got to our destination and made some yummy pizza! Madeline kept J's son very busy...and for some reason I didn't have the camera around and never managed to get a picture of them. Its official...I'm a rotten photographer.

We went to the zoo...and saw lions and tigers and bears. And the rear end of a giraffe that never f*(^ing turned around for a photo.

And then, of course, we went yarn shopping...here and here and here. Please see the yarn porn below...

Sock knitting...

And here is some awesome silk/wool from The Black Lamb and some Silk Cashmere variegated from Lettuce Knit.
And here...be still my beating heart...one precious skein of Fleece Artist Handmaiden Lace Silk...

And finally...some Misti Alpaca that was shown to me by an evil lace weight enabler at Romni. The 20% off helped a bit too.

Shops were great. Romni is....well...huge and overwhelming and you have to go with a project in mind or you will be in big trouble. I went into each store with the intention to buy something in the beige/brown/copper range for my mother's couch afghan. Did you notice the absence of anything that would work in those colours? So maybe I lack commitment?

Lettuce Knit was absolutely adorable! And the yarn was gorgeous and staff were awesome and friendly. Madeline played with the cat while I shopped.

And...had a great stop at The Black Lamb in Port Hope on the drive home. Laurie the proprietor showed me a Majacraft Little Gem...which I really liked but hasn't begun haunting my dreams just yet. So I suppose I won't have to buy a new wheel anytime soon!

Finally...Madeline bought herself two skeins at Romni. Some BeBop from Cascade to make a little scarf for her best friend and a skein of luscious red Debbie Bliss Cashmerino. Sigh, I'm such a proud mama...

LOVE the pics of M - you are NOT a rotten photographer, I didn't get one photo at ALL! L missed you (okay, M, mostly) immensely and ran into your room a few times over the next 36 hours whenever he woke up and looked very confused and sad... again, consider moving to mid-point city on the lake :)
